There is nothing worse than to check your e-mail just to find out that your inbox is flooded with unsolicited ton of messages from people you do not know. No, you are not interested in dog food, beauty products, and don't want buy slimming pills, plants or softwares! But anyway, you got these annoying emails.

Spam, this little four letter word has sweating millions of people worldwide.

You might heard the word "spam" many times, but what is it means? Spam is known as unsolicited commercial email (UCE) or unsolicited bulk email (UBE) or junk mail. which is unwanted e-mail sent to many people mostly for the purpose to advertise particular products.

Spam has produced negative effects from annoying spammers. Obviously, it's a waste of time to choose and sort through dozens of e-mails per day while you are trying to find out which one is valid, and which one is spam. Often you missed these important messages out because you thought they were spam. Spam also has the potential to spread viruses, pornography and fraud.

It's not just people who are affected by spam. Large companies and other businesses are also suffering.

Many companies have already issued several lawsuits against spammers who send spam and claim that they are from those companies, when in reality they are not and were just sent to cause turmoil and damage the companies' reputation.

The NCSA and Bank of America conducted a study called 'Online Fraud Report' and showed that 87 percent of respondents believed that they had distinguish genuine e-mails from fraudulent (spam) ones. As it turned out, the result showed that only 60 percent respondents were able to identify the legitimate emails. The rest could not even recognize which are valid emails or spam. This shows that spam has become even worse.

Inbox flooded with spam is definitely such a troublesome for people (and also businesses).

You may be wondering how these spammers found your email address. With the technology available today, you should not be surprised to discover that spammers use a lot of techniques to obtain people's email addresses. They could retrieve e-mail addresses of DNS listings, Usenet postings, Web pages, guess common names in popular domains, use programs called spiders to find email addresses on the web and from social network sites (people who posted their email address publicly.)

So how could you get rid of spam? Unfortunately there is no 100 percent effective solution to this problem. You can try any anti-spam software or spam filters, but they only reduce the number of spam you receive, but will not completely eliminate them.

Another thing you can do is click on the unsubscribe link, which usually located at the bottom of the e-mail spam (if any).

As I said earlier, some spammers get e-mail addresses by guessing common names at popular domains so it would be wise to set up an email account that is hard to guess. Use a different e-mail signature in forums, mailing lists, chat rooms, newsgroups, and registration sites.

In addition to email spam, a new set of spam has been recently created. Spammers have found new ways about how they could get those spams to people. These targets are including newsgroups, forum groups, instant messaging, online gaming communities, blogs, social network groups (like facebook), and even guest books.

With the gradual increase in spam, it is really important that you understand their nature and protect yourself by learning more about how you can get rid of it. Spam can waste time, energy and money a lot, so it would really be a good idea that you know how to block those annoying messages.
